Frequently Asked Questions.

1. What does Zonetap do?

We make a clip-on wearable that alerts on-the-ground workers when they are in danger of getting hit by heavy equipment or when they enter into a hazardous zone. It doesn’t require any beacons to set up, runs for 20+ hours (per charge), and our team can fully customize it to work for any environment.

2. How does it work?

Here is a video of how our product works and the reports you’d receive. But to put it into words, you’d place our wearable on each worker and piece of equipment that works on your jobsite, and turn on the device to connect to your dashboard. Each device requires either LTE or wifi to connect

3. Tell us more about the device?

In terms of its size, the 2ND-SKN device is a little shorter and thicker than an average smartphone. It is water resistant, drop resistant, heat resistant, and dust resistant. It comes with 3 programmable buttons for any custom use cases, and each alert sends an audible, visual, and haptic alert. Workers can choose to clip it on to a belt/vest, put it in their pocket, or custom mounts used to attach devices to outside of vehicle cab.

4. But it is really loud at my jobsite…how do I know workers will hear the alert?

Our wearables send a visual, audible, and haptic alert to the individual wearing it. We can also pair our device with bluetooth isolation headphones, tactile vests, speakers, and any other device that makes sense for your environment.

5. Is there anything on the market like this already?

In our opinion, the closest competitors are Triax Technologies, Intense Eye, and Guardhat. And while there are advantages and disadvantages to each solution, these solutions require a lot of setup, aren’t as accurate, and are more costly. Most importantly, none of these technologies do vehicle to person alerting as their alert speed and accuracy aren’t good enough.

6. Besides generally warning workers when they are about to get run over by heavy equipment, how else can Zonetap be used to help protect the lives of my fellow tradesmen?

[Electricians] Send workers and heavy equipment operators alerts whenever they are in danger of getting electrocuted by hard to see wires.

[Carpenters] Send management a “Man Down” text with a workers precise location

[Plumbers] Prevent trench collapses by alerting heavy equipment operators when they are dumping or parking too close to the edge of the trench.

[Landscapers] Alert workers when they have entered the fall or blast zone during trimming/harvesting activities.

[Heavy Equipment Operators] Get alerts anytime a worker is in your blind spot and in danger of getting hit. Also we can put a mobile app in the cab of the vehicle, with a real-time map of all the workers and danger around each operator.

[Millwright / Line Workers] Prevent “caught in between”and “struck by fallen object” accidents by seeing our heatmap report to see how often workers are getting too close to machines or working under overhead objects (i.e. crane load).

7. Sounds great, but how would you prevent employers from using this information to unfairly fire my fellow tradesmen?

Because our worker location data is stored in the cloud rather than a physical device, we have 100% control over who can see real-time reports, and will work with each union so that they can include report access in the collective bargaining agreement. We also have a terms of service agreement employers must sign that includes legal repercussions for employers who willfully violate them.

8. Why should we trust you to prioritize safety and prevent employer abuse?

Because it’s personal. Our CEO comes from a long line of union men, with his brother and father members of ILWU and two other brothers members of ATU. We also have worker safety researchers as our clients (example Robert Keefe) and strong ties with many current and former union leaders. Our goal is to work with our researchers, union advisors, and commercial partners to run enough pilots to prove that our technology can reduce the amount of vehicle <> worker injuries…so maintaining the trust of all 3 parties is critical to the success of our business.

9. Ok this is interesting…but how will I know if it works in my environment before buying it?

We offer a money back 90 day trial where our CEO sends you the device and walks you through testing it out on your jobsite.  We test for accuracy, alert latency, and reliability…and you can see a virtual demo along with a number of the custom reports we can create on our Youtube Channel

10. What would be the next steps?

Please use this calendar app to sign up for a 30 minute  “virtual demo” with our CEO. Over this Zoom meeting, our CEO will walk you through the web portal and reports while another employee walks around our testing course wearing the device. If you still like what you see, we will send you the device for a 90 day trial after signing our agreement.
